Duty of Care - from 13 June 2022

A pre-recorded mini-webinar available from 13 June 2022 to 31 March 2024.

Fee = £65.00 plus VAT or 1 credit

This webinar will set out what the Duty of Care is under section 34(1) of the Environmental Protection Act (1990) and the requirements for waste producers and waste holders in the UK. The seminar will give context in terms of the definition of waste, waste hierarchy and the increasing prevalence of waste crime – meaning it is more important than ever to adhere to the Duty of Care. It will also go through 5 key requirements that must be followed, including an overview of waste classification and List of Waste codes. It will also consider recent consultations on Digital Waste Tracking (UK-wide) and reform of carrier, broker and dealer registration (England only) which will impact Duty of Care over the next few years.

Introduction to Managing Soils and other Excavated Materials - Legislation and guidance in England and Wales

A pre-recorded mini-webinar available from 3 May 2022 to 31 March 2024.

Fee = £65.00 plus VAT or 1 credit

This webinar will examine a range of issues related to the management of soils and other excavation materials arising during development projects. The seminar will give an overview of current legislation and guidance, including consideration of when soil becomes a waste, the waste duty of care and environmental permitting. It will also consider how to minimise the environmental impacts of excavation waste and the regulatory options for its re-use.
On completion of the webinar, we expect that delegates will have gained a basic understanding of:
• How waste legislation and guidance impacts on development sites involving groundworks, earthworks and soil remediation;
• Duty of Care requirements placed on waste producers and waste holders; and
• Options available to enable the sustainable use of excavated materials on development sites, either as waste or non-waste.
