  • Welcome and Introduction

    Explaining the training package, its key elements, requirements and means of certification. Including the aims of the day and relevant LA officers duties.

    • Session 1: Legislative contexts relevant to land contamination - Part 1

      Introducing the relevant aspects of the Planning Regime, Part 2A Environmental Protection Act 1990 and other relevant legal regimes.

      Activities: Look up the key paragraphs relating to contaminated land in the NPPF, Planning Policy Wales and PAN33

      • Session 2: Legislative contexts relevant to land contamination - Part 2

        Introducing the relevant aspects of the Planning Regime, Part 2A Environmental Protection Act 1990 and other relevant legal regimes

        Activities: Look up the definition of contaminated land in the contaminated land statutory guidance for England, Wales and Scotland

        • Session 3: The Risk Assessment Framework

          Outlining key guidance documents and the fundamental concepts of source-pathway-receptor linkages, the conceptual site model (CSM) and a tiered approach.

          Activities:  Visit the LCRM website and look at what should be in each type of report; Look up the chemical formula and structure of benzene; Visit the CLAIRE WALL

          • Session 4: Phase 1 reports

            Outlining the information to go into a Phase 1 report and where to find it.

            • Session 5: Development of the Conceptual Site Model

              Discussing different possible contaminants, pathways and & receptors and sources of uncertainty and assumptions.

              • Essentials of CLM 1 Knowledge Check, Feedback and CPD

                The CLM 1 Knowledge Check will enable you to review your understanding of the course material from the 6 sessions across CLM 1.

                Participants will have three attempts at the Knowledge Check and a score of 75% is required to pass.
