  • Welcome & Introduction

    Information relating to the training package, it's key elements, requirements & means of certification.

    • Session 1: Noise and Statutory Nuisance

      This session will review the law of statutory nuisance focusing on noise.  It will also consider the provisions of the Noise Act and provide some key examples of how nuisance might be proven using subjective and objective means and identify appropriate noise standards.  The session will review noise data and provide for a discussion on suitability of data sets for use in nuisance cases.

      • Session 2: Noise and Planning

        This session will focus on the planning and EIA process and examine the concepts of sustainable development, adverse impacts and tranquillity and link to noise standards.  The session will review a case study to illustrate how planning requirement are usually addressed. 

        • Session 3: Noise and Licensing

          This session will review the entertainment licensing requirements for avoiding public nuisance.  It will link the licensing activities to appropriate subjective and objective assessment techniques and provide a basis for pragmatic demonstration of compliance with entertainment licenses and appropriate noise standards.

          • Session 4: Noise and Environmental Permitting

            This session will provide an overview of noise as it relates to prescribed processes.  It will review guidance note H3(04) and the interface of this with the Environment Agency.  It will review the processes used by the EA to determine the environmental impact of noise form their installations and provide a suitable forum for discussion based on a case study. 

            • Session 5: Noise Standards

              This session will review the noise standards identified in the first three sessions, including BS4142:2014, BS8233:2014, BS5228:2009, WHO, etc.  It will focus on the scope and use of those standards and defensibility of the standards when considering demonstration of compliance.

              • Session 6: Case Study - Late Night Refreshment Case Study

                The final session of the day will provide a case study for discussion.  The case study will provide a complex scenario with some compliance data for review.

                • Essentials of Noise 2 Knowledge Check, Feedback and CPD

                  The Noise 2 Knowledge Check will enable you to review your understanding of the course material from the 6 sessions across Noise 2. 

                  Participants will have three attempts at the Knowledge Check and a score of 75% is required to pass.
